Daniel Schuardt
Daniel Schuardt is an Australian Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and coach based in Melbourne. He began training in February 2011 and received his black belt from Lachlan Giles in March 2021. Daniel is an active competitor and coach at Precision MMA in Melbourne, Australia.
Inspired by watching the UFC at a young age, Daniel began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu with the idea of learning how to win a fight without necessarily hurting his opponent. He quickly became hooked on the sport and started competing extensively in grappling tournaments.
Early in his career Daniel also pursued mixed martial arts, turning professional at the age of 19 and compiling a record of 3–1. As professional grappling continued to grow, he shifted his focus back to jiu-jitsu and committed fully to developing as a high-level competitor.
As a late purple belt Daniel moved his training to Absolute MMA St Kilda, where he worked closely with Craig Jones and Lachlan Giles while pursuing elite-level competition. He has also spent time training in the United States, including sessions at Roka under the guidance of John Danaher.
Daniel has competed extensively both nationally and internationally, winning multiple Australian titles, medaling at the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, and achieving strong results at ADCC Trials.
“When I compete, I try to display precise and entertaining jiu-jitsu. I focus on staying present and trusting that my training will help me find the way to win.”
